A Tight Draw for Regional Squad against Michenden

Last Saturday, the regional team took to court against Michenden in Southgate in their penultimate match of the season. The match proved to be a nail biting one as most of the match went goal for goal. We were up against a stronger Michenden side compared to our first encounter with them and were met with strong feeds into their GS who secured shots. There was no opportunity to block out the GS as GA was also an able shooter so we had to work hard to adapt to their style of play in order to stay in the game. The first half ended on a score of 27-31 to Michenden. we fought hard to ensure that our passes were accurate and adapted so that we did not have balls overturned. Michenden continued to lead and widen the gap to 7 goals, however our determined mindset meant that we pulled back to get ourselves back in the game. Bringing ourselves back within 2 at the end of the third quarter and pushing hard again in the fourth quarter to end the game on a final, heartbreakingly close 55-55 draw. We are really pleased with how our squad brought back their A game and had the mental strength to continue and look after one another. POTM went to Asha for her fabulous work as Centre - being here, there and everywhere to ensure strong links between defence and attack. Congratulations Asha 🎉 Well done ladies, one more to go!
