First Matches for Regional and 3rd Squads

Saturdays matches brought some fierce competition.
Our third team took on Beacons 5 in their first match of the season. The game started off slowly, with nerves and excitement rolling into one. Beacons fought hard and began leading. We did not let this get to us however and fought hard not to give up. Unfortunately Beacons strong, fit side managed to steal away more goals and the game concluded with a loss of 66-20 to Beacons.
Despite this our thirds did not give up and were flexible with many players trying new combinations in new positions. We'd like to work on fitness (because man are we all feeling those 15 minute quarters), communication and ball placement to ensure that our next game we improve on our performance!
Next up we had our first regional game and our first game in Division 1 against a very well developed New Campbells who had a premiership player. We worked really hard, getting lots of interceptions, particularly in mid court and put our bodies on the line. We listened and implemented feedback during the game. Unfortunately, New Campbells long bombs into the tall GS proved a little too much and the game ended with a loss of 40-58. However, this score doesn't reflect how hard our girls worked and seeing the level of play from the squad leaves us excited for what they're going to show us this season!
Player of the match for 3rds was the lovely Sophie and our coach Marlene has nominated Tetsuya who played a fab game as GK! Our regional team POTM was the fabulous Cassain. Congratulations Ladies 🎊
Also shout out to our wonderful Rash who sadly got injured at the end of the game. We wish you a speedy recovery from everyone in our Sabina Family 🖤❤️
