Nail Biting Game for Thirds Against Chislehurst
Posted by Rachel Evans on 27 March 2022
The third team took on Chislehurst on the weekend, with an uncharacteristically slim team sheet: missing players and last minute Covid cases meant we were only seven.
The first quarter was tough and we struggled to find our rhythm, which meant that Chislehurst took the lead, and it was not until the end of the third quarter that we clawed it back to even. It must be said that managing to pull it back even this far against a strong side with multiple substitutes was no mean feat – we worked hard, kept the momentum, supported each other and played some really good netball. However, it wasn’t to be, as we ended the fourth quarter on the agonising and heartbreaking score of 39-38.
After a few deep breaths and a short walk around the court it was possible to take the positives from the game even if the result was painful: we battled hard in adverse circumstances and there were some great performances.
Special shoutouts go to Alaina for a POTM performance at goal defence and Alice who played her first full game and did a great job. Onwards! 🎉
