Regional Squad Secure Another Win

First up on Saturday was our regional squad who headed to Essex for a home game against Manor. We began the game slowly and with lower energy than we would have liked however throughout the game we were able to pick ourselves up, maintain composure to push through and come back with a strong finish. Several changes were made to increase depth in the attack and tighten up defensively. This meant the entire squad adapted and was supportive to each other; using great communication to resolve issues on court in real time quickly. Something which we’ve improved on from previous games. This made a big difference and despite a slow start we were able to finish the first half with a score of 26-27 to Manor.
Coming into the second half individually we gave ourselves an extra boost and gave it our all. We began moving onto balls and being more body-on to create defensive pressure on Manor. Our mental game is getting stronger; something we’re really proud of as a squad. It showed in the third quarter when we scored 14 to Manor’s 7. We began to enjoy the game more which increased pace. Cass in particular did well to slow and control the game so that our shooters were able to position themselves and refine movements to ensure goals. Feeding into the circle from centre court was fantastic! Overall in the second half we were more consistent which ultimately ended the game with a final score of 50-41 to us. Moving forward we’d like to work on being more intentional with applying planned strategies. Most of our errors were unforced and when we’re tired we need to work on utilising 3 seconds and resetting to ensure the ball is taken to goal and not turned over unnecessarily. A really supportive and strong end to the match. Well done everyone! POTM was Princess for some excellent work in defence, making countless interceptions! Congratulations 🎊
